A special selection of the finest Pinoatge fruit is dedicated to the production of the Black Label. Fermentation takes place in open concrete fermenters with the cap punched down manually every 2 hours and the juice drawn off the skins after 4 days. Maturation is accomplished via 16 months' storage in 100% new 225l French, Nevers oak barrels, primarily from Vicard.
The wine has a full-bodied structure and great complexity, with soft, ripe tannins and a classically dry finish. Unique Pinotage characters of Red berries, mushroom and forest floor are prominent, with elegance that belies the robust tannin structure.
Food Suggestion: Red meat or spicy Asian style dishes.
